Who We Are

At Pet Urgent Care, we offer walk-in, same-day appointments for dogs and cats in La Mesa and the surrounding areas.

We provide same-day, outpatient services for pets with non-life-threatening conditions that still need to be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible.

Pet Urgent Care is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join us as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

As a Veterinary Assistant, you’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing end-to-end care for our patients. Your work will include hands-on care, facilitating outpatient treatments, performing laboratory tests, and support services such as admitting and discharging patients.

Role Responsibilities:

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
• Assist veterinarians and the medical team in hospital functions to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
• Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with the state's Veterinary Practice Act.
• Communicate with clients about pet health concerns and treatment plans, answering questions as needed.
• Maintain relevant, comprehensive medical records with support from practice systems.
• Obtain health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
• Use safe restraining techniques, follow protocols, and keep treatment areas clean and organized.
• Guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.

Compensation is negotiable, starting at $20 - $24/hour, based on credentials and experience.
