Job Description:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate Experienced Veterinary Assistant with surgical experience to join our team. This role combines general veterinary assistant duties with a strong focus on supporting surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will be comfortable assisting veterinarians during exams, treatments, diagnostics, and surgeries while maintaining a high standard of patient care and client service.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist veterinarians with physical exams, patient diagnostics, and treatments
Provide surgical support including patient prep, instrument sterilization, and anesthesia monitoring
Maintain clean, sterile, and organized treatment and surgical areas
Monitor and record patient vital signs and recovery post-procedure
Restrain animals safely and effectively for exams, procedures, and treatments
Administer medications and perform basic lab work as directed by the DVM
Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding patient care and instructions
Maintain accurate medical records and ensure proper patient handling and safety
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience as a veterinary assistant, including surgical support
Proficiency in anesthesia monitoring and sterile technique
Strong understanding of veterinary medical terminology, procedures, and patient care
Excellent communication, teamwork, and multitasking skills
Veterinary Assistant Certification preferred
Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience with an hourly rate range of $24 - $26. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
