PETS Emergency Hospital is looking to add a full-time Veterinary Assistant to their team!
As a Veterinary Assistant, you’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing care for our patients. Your work will include hands-on care, facilitating outpatient treatments, performing laboratory tests, and support services such as admitting and discharging patients.
Role Responsibilities:
- Support veterinarians to ensure quality care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
- Assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
- Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with your state's Veterinary Practice Act for credentialed veterinary technicians.
- Communicate with clients about pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and treatments.
- Maintain medical records with practice systems.
- Obtain health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
- Use safe restraining techniques, follow protocols, and keep treatment areas clean and organized.
- Support and mentor fellow team members.
Experience & Skills Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical veterinary experience.
- Knowledge of common disease processes, treatments, and medications for emergency cases.
- Experience with digital radiography and proper imaging techniques.
- Ability to prepare animals and instruments for surgery.
- Assist with surgeries, monitor anesthesia, and provide post-operative care.
- Administer medications and treatments prescribed by a veterinarian.
- Positive attitude, self-motivated, and excellent communication and organization skills.
- Committed to a stress-free environment for patients and able to work in a fast-paced setting.

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience, starting at $18.50-$25.50/hour. The actual rate will consider your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
