Grace Animal Hospital is a four-doctor general practice offering digital radiography, ultrasound, and therapeutic laser treatments. We seek an experienced veterinary assistant for a full-time role with no weekends or on-call hours, and a supportive, growth-oriented team environment.

You will assist veterinarians, handle a variety of patients, and contribute to a positive hospital culture while enjoying mentoring and ongoing learning opportunities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with patient exams, treatments, and procedures.
• Provide compassionate care to canine, feline, and small mammal patients.
• Safely restrain patients and collect histories and vitals as needed.
• Assist with venipuncture, IV placement, and fluid therapy.

Position Details

Role: Experienced Veterinary Assistant.

Status: Fulltime.

Salary: Negotiable and based on experience.

Schedule: 4-day workweek; no weekends, on‑call shifts, or holiday hours.

What Our Veterinary Assistants Do

• Assist veterinarians and the medical team with patient exams, treatments, and procedures
• Provide compassionate, high‑quality care to canine, feline, and small mammal patients
• Safely handle and restrain patients while prioritizing their comfort and well‑being
• Obtain thorough patient histories, vitals, and other information to support patient assessments
• Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed and appropriate to your training and experience
• Assist with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, fluid therapy, and sample collection based on your training and experience
• Collect and process laboratory samples and assist with in‑house diagnostic testing
• Assist with digital and dental radiographs
• Support surgical and dental procedures, including patient preparation, monitoring, recovery, and instrument care
• Assist with anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery based on your training and experience
• Support ultrasound and therapeutic laser treatments
• Communicate with clients compassionately and clearly regarding patient care, medications, discharge instructions, and preventive care
• Maintain accurate medical records and patient charts
• Keep treatment and exam areas clean, stocked, and organized
• Collaborate with doctors and teammates to maintain an efficient workflow and positive hospital culture

What You’ll Bring

• Previous Veterinary Assistant experience in a clinical setting
• Strong patient care and animal‑handling skills
• Safe and effective patient restraint techniques
• Experience assisting with examinations, treatments, and procedures
• Familiarity with anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery
• Comfort assisting with diagnostic testing, radiology, and laboratory procedures
• Experience with venipuncture and IV catheter placement is a plus
• Excellent client communication and education skills
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a busy environment
• Time management and organizational skills that help keep the day running smoothly
• A collaborative, team‑first mindset and willingness to jump in where needed
