Join Our Team at VCA North Academy Animal Hospital

Located in the sunny mountain town of Colorado Springs, VCA North Academy Animal Hospital has been serving the community and its pets for over 40 years. We are seeking an experienced Vet Assistant to join our team.

Our mission is to prioritize your pet’s health and deliver excellent service. We aim to exceed pet owners’ expectations with every interaction. We are looking for a personable, professional "service extraordinaire" to help us deliver on this mission.

This critical position ensures the safe and smooth flow of pets and clients in and out of our hospital. The ideal candidate performs well under stress, works well with diverse personalities, is organized, confident, animal-friendly, self-motivated, and punctual.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience or training in veterinary facilities preferred but not required.
  • Friendly, outgoing, and people-oriented.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in telephone and computer use.
  • Team player willing to learn new techniques and accept challenges.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Maintain medical records and obtain patient histories.
  • Review records, update vaccine and treatment histories.
  • Collect specimens and prepare for laboratory pickup.
  • Prepare ear cytology slides and discuss medications with clients.
  • Safely handle contagious, stressed, or aggressive pets.
  • Discuss euthanasia paperwork with clients.
  • Accurately record patient weight and temperature.
  • Keep all areas clean and organized.
  • Stock and organize inventory.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and facilitate room flow.
Physical Requirements
  • Reliable attendance is essential.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Willingness to work long or irregular hours under pressure.
  • Ability to walk, bend, stand, and reach during an 8-hour shift.
  • Fine motor skills for using hospital equipment.
