Job summary

National Veterinary Associates is seeking a dedicated veterinary assistant to support the entire team in delivering excellent patient and client care. Responsibilities span patient care, monitoring hospitalized pets, inventory, restraining animals, and assisting with diagnostic tests under supervision.

The role requires a compassionate, multitasking team player who can lift up to 40 lbs and handle stressed animals. Prior experience is preferred but not required; training is provided on-site.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Self-starter, able to multitask and be a team player.
• Enjoy working with animals and handle them when stressed, ill or in pain.
• Experience preferred (1+ years) but not required.
• Ability to meet physical demands: lift up to 40 lbs, walk/stand for long periods, and restrain animals with support.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care and treatment.
• Monitor hospitalized pets and aid after surgery.
• Maintain inventory and stocking.
• Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims.
• Assist with routine diagnostic tests (radiographs, bloodwork, fecal reading).
• Sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
• Clean/Disinfect cages, kennels, exam and treatment areas.
• Administer medications under supervision of Veterinarian or Vet Tech.
• Feed and bathe animals.
• Answer phones and help clients with their pets.

Qualifications:

• · Must be 18yrs old or older
• · Must be a self-starter, able to multitask and a team player.
• · Genuinely enjoys working with animals and is able to deal with them even when they are stressed, ill or in pain.
• · Prefer 1+ years of experience, but not required.
• · Ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Work requires lifting, carrying and restraining animals (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 lbs.). Should be able to lift 40lbs on own.
• . Walks or stands for extended periods or time; frequently works in a bent or squatting position.
• . Is experienced in the teamwork approach and works well with all levels of hospital team members.
