Veterinary Assistant

Department: Veterinary Assistants

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Baltimore, Maryland

Compensation: $17.50 - $22.00 / hour

Description

We are adding a full-time Veterinary Technician to our team! As a technician-oriented practice, we utilize our nursing staff to their fullest potential, giving you the opportunity to use your skills. In addition to our benefits package, enjoy employee discounts and a uniform allowance.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
  1. Effective communication with clients and team members
  2. Safe handling and restraint of animals
  3. Obtaining vitals and medical history
  4. Venipuncture and placing intravenous catheters
  5. Administering medications SQ and IV
  6. Monitoring anesthesia and assisting in surgeries
  7. Performing dental prophylaxis and bandaging
  8. Laboratory testing and radiography
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
  1. High school diploma or GED required
  2. Preferred at least 1 year of veterinary experience
  3. Effective communicator with clients, visitors, veterinarians, and staff
  4. Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move freely for extended periods
  5. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  6. Willingness to work in an environment with potential exposure to infectious or contagious diseases
