Job description

Veterinary Assistant (License Required)

Position:Veterinarian
Location:Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center (DDEAMC), Fort Gordon, GA
Hours:5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 07:30-16:00

Responsibilities:

  • Provide routine and emergency care for laboratory animals.
  • Oversee daily management and well-being of the animals.
  • Review and monitor animal research protocols.
  • Assist with animal surgeries and complex procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of all veterinary activities.
  • Ensure compliance with animal welfare laws and regulations.
  • Consult with staff on animal care and research protocols.
  • Respond to animal care emergencies during duty hours.

Qualifications:

  • Valid and current Veterinary license in Georgia.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a laboratory animal veterinarian, or board certification in laboratory animal medicine.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations related to animal use in research.
  • Experience caring for multiple types of laboratory animals.
  • Completion of required security and operational training.
