Qualifications

• DVM or VMD degree from an accredited program, or equivalent education qualifying for licensure in Georgia.
• Current Georgia veterinary license or eligibility to obtain prior to practicing.
• Ability to obtain and maintain all professional licenses and registrations required.
• DEA registration or ability to obtain when required for assigned duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient examinations and clinical assessments.
• Develop appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans.
• Interpret laboratory results, diagnostic imaging, and other clinical findings within the veterinarian's scope of practice.
• Prescribe and administer medications and treatments in accordance with applicable laws and professional standards.
• Perform medical and surgical procedures appropriate to training, credentials, experience, and assigned specialty.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical records.
• Communicate diagnoses, treatment recommendations, prognosis, costs, and follow-up care clearly and compassionately with pet owners.
• Collaborate effectively with specialists, emergency clinicians, technicians, assistants, CSRs, and referring veterinarians.
• Provide appropriate direction and oversight to veterinary technicians and assistants.
• Participate in patient rounds, case discussions, and continuity-of-care planning.
• Follow hospital protocols regarding controlled substances, pharmacy practices, radiation safety, infection control, OSHA requirements, and patient safety.
• Support a respectful, professional, and team-oriented workplace.

Live Oak Veterinary Specialists is a privately owned veterinary specialty hospital serving Savannah, Pooler, and the surrounding region. As we continue expanding our specialty services at our Pooler facility, we are actively recruiting veterinarians who want to practice advanced medicine in a collaborative, supportive, and patient-centered environment.

We are recruiting DVM's in the following areas:

Position Summary:

Our veterinarians provide high-quality medical and surgical care while collaborating with specialists, veterinary technicians, assistants, client service representatives, referring veterinarians, and hospital leadership.

The ideal candidate is clinically capable, compassionate, communicative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced veterinary environment. We are looking for veterinarians who take ownership of patient care while recognizing that exceptional veterinary medicine is a team effort.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive patient examinations and clinical assessments.
• Develop appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans.

Additional Requirements for Specialty Positions:

For positions advertised specifically as a veterinary specialist, candidates must meet the credentialing requirements appropriate to the specialty. Depending on the position, this may include:

• Board certification by the applicable veterinary specialty college; or
• Successful completion of an approved residency program and eligibility for board certification.
• Appropriate specialty training, clinical competency, and experience for the position.
• Ability to maintain applicable specialty credentials and continuing education requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in specialty, emergency, referral, or high-acuity veterinary medicine.
• Experience managing medically complex patients.
