Qualifications

  • DVM or VMD degree from an accredited program, or equivalent education qualifying for licensure in Georgia.
  • Current Georgia veterinary license or eligibility to obtain prior to practicing.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all professional licenses and registrations required.
  • DEA registration or ability to obtain when required for assigned duties.
  • Strong clinical judgment and commitment to high standards of patient care.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and compassionately with clients, including during emotionally difficult situations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with veterinarians and veterinary support teams.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
  • Commitment to professional ethics, patient safety, and applicable veterinary regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient examinations and clinical assessments.
  • Develop appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans.
  • Interpret laboratory results, diagnostic imaging, and other clinical findings within the veterinarian's scope of practice.
  • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments in accordance with applicable laws and professional standards.
  • Perform medical and surgical procedures appropriate to training, credentials, experience, and assigned specialty.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical records.
  • Communicate diagnoses, treatment recommendations, prognosis, costs, and follow-up care clearly and compassionately with pet owners.
  • Collaborate effectively with specialists, emergency clinicians, technicians, assistants, CSRs, and referring veterinarians.
  • Provide appropriate direction and oversight to veterinary technicians and assistants.
  • Participate in patient rounds, case discussions, and continuity-of-care planning.
  • Follow hospital protocols regarding controlled substances, pharmacy practices, radiation safety, infection control, OSHA requirements, and patient safety.
  • Support a respectful, professional, and team-oriented workplace.
