Job description

Veterinarian, Plano TX

J933450 Allen Texas USD150K/ Year

A Veterinary Role Offering Clinical Autonomy, Work-Life Balance and Long-Term Growth

Are you looking for a veterinary position where you can practise high-quality medicine, enjoy a manageable caseload and have the support you need to thrive?

An established, privately owned small-animal hospital in Allen, TX, is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join its experienced and supportive team.

This opportunity is ideal for a veterinarian who values clinical independence, a relaxed working environment and strong technician support. With a predictable four-day schedule, competitive production-based compensation and the potential to progress towards a future partnership or equity position, this role offers an opportunity to build a rewarding long-term career in private practice.

Why Consider This Opportunity?
  • Base salary of up to $150,000, depending on experience
  • 20% monthly production compensation
  • Potential gross annual earnings of approximately $200,000
  • No negative accrual
  • Full-time four-day workweek
  • Alternating Saturday schedule
  • Approximately five support staff per veterinarian
  • Manageable caseload of around 1015 patients per day
  • Relaxed, patient-focused clinical environment
  • Strong clinical and surgical support
  • Potential long-term partnership or equity opportunity
  • Opportunity to invest in additional equipment aligned with your clinical interests
  • Predictable Four-Day Schedule
  • Enjoy a consistent working pattern designed to support a healthy work-life balance

The full-time schedule follows a two-week rotation.

Week 1
  • Four midweek working days
  • 8:30 AM6:00 PM
  • One-hour lunch break
Week 2
  • Four midweek working days
  • 8:30 AM6:00 PM
  • One-hour lunch break
  • Saturday: 9:00 AM3:00 PM
  • Alternating Saturdays are required, with a weekday off incorporated into the schedule

This arrangement provides a predictable routine without requiring you to work every weekend.

Clinical Role and Caseload

The hospital typically sees around 1015 patients per day, with a combination of scheduled appointments and walk-in cases.

This manageable caseload allows you to focus on thorough examinations, considered treatment plans and strong client relationships.

You should be comfortable working independently, as you may be the sole veterinarian on site approximately 5075% of the time. Experienced part-time veterinarians are also available to work alongside you when scheduled.

The practice has regular demand for routine soft-tissue surgery, so confidence performing common surgical procedures is important.

For more complex cases, support is available from a board-certified surgeon. Additional internal training may also be available for veterinarians interested in developing their advanced soft-tissue surgical or dental skills.

Modern Facilities and Strong Team Support

The hospital provides a well-equipped clinical environment, including:

  • Digital body radiography
  • Dedicated surgical suite
  • Dental equipment
  • In-house diagnostic capabilities
  • Digital medical records
  • Approximately five support colleagues per veterinarian

The practice places value on providing the clinical support needed to deliver high-quality patient care while maintaining an efficient and collaborative working environment.

There is also a willingness to consider investment in additional equipment where it supports the successful candidate's clinical interests, professional development and the continued growth of the hospital.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Base salary of up to $150,000, depending on experience
  • 20% monthly production compensation
  • No negative accrual
  • Potential gross annual earnings of approximately $200,000
  • Two weeks of PTO plus paid holidays
  • $2,000 annual continuing education allowance
  • Four additional days of paid CE leave
  • 401(k)
  • Professional licensing fees and memberships covered
  • Potential healthcare reimbursement contribution
  • Potential long-term partnership or equity opportunity

The production structure offers the opportunity to increase your earnings alongside your clinical contribution, without the risk of negative accrual.

Potential Partnership or Equity

For the right veterinarian, this opportunity offers the potential to progress beyond a traditional Associate role.

There may be an opportunity to develop towards a long-term partnership or equity position, providing greater involvement in the hospital's future direction and continued development.

This could appeal to an experienced veterinarian who wants to establish deeper roots within private practice and explore a longer-term pathway towards ownership.

Who We're Looking For
  • Hold a DVM or VMD degree
  • Be licensed or eligible for veterinary licensure in Texas
  • Be comfortable managing cases independently
  • Have confidence handling a varied small-animal caseload
  • Be comfortable performing routine soft-tissue surgery
  • Demonstrate strong communication and client-care skills
  • Be patient-focused and service-oriented
  • Work collaboratively and professionally with colleagues
  • Be interested in continued clinical development and building a long-term career

If you're looking for an Associate Veterinarian position in Allen, TX, offering up to $150,000 base salary, 20% production, no negative accrual, a manageable daily caseload, strong clinical support and a predictable four-day workweek, this could be an excellent opportunity to explore.
