Job Summary

The primary purpose of the Relief Veterinarian is to provide preventative care, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases and injuries of Pets.

Responsibilities
  1. Ensure the safety of Pets, clients, and staff by following safety protocols and maintaining clean treatment areas.
  2. Obtain relevant information and medical history from clients, and maintain accurate medical records.
  3. Educate clients about preventative care, Pet health needs, diagnoses, treatments, and hospital services.
  4. Provide professional and efficient service, including prescribing and administering preventative care and diagnosing/treating diseases and injuries.
  5. Communicate diagnosis and treatment plans effectively to the veterinary team and clients.
  6. Follow all applicable laws and regulations, including proper controlled substance inventory management.
  7. Understand and adhere to state guidelines regarding veterinary duties.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree.
  • License in good standing with the state veterinary board.
  • DEA license required.
  • Proven ability to perform basic surgeries and operate standard medical instruments.
Skills and Attributes
  • Strong communication, organizational, surgical, problem-solving, and client service skills.
  • Compassionate commitment to Pet care and ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in computer software such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to work confidently around Pets of various species.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks including standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to Pets and potential hazards such as anesthesia and biological materials.
  • Minimal travel required.
Additional Requirements
  • Good reasoning, memory, language, and mathematical skills.
  • Experience in performing surgeries and handling medical equipment.
