Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital would like to invite an overnight Veterinarian Hospitalist to provide medical oversight to a variety of hospitalized veterinary patients. Join our large referral team setting in Pittsburgh, PA (North Hills) where we have 7 criticalists combined in both of our Pittsburgh locations and a house officer program consisting of rotating interns, emergency and critical care interns and residents, and surgical interns and residents

As a Veterinarian Hospitalist you will:

  • Diagnose and treat animals with illnesses and injuries.
  • Evaluates patient status, make timely treatment and diagnostic plans/orders, administer medications, interpret diagnostic test results, communicate effectively with the pet owner/client and primary care veterinarian, and collaborate on patient care with other veterinarians within the practice.
  • Dress animal wounds and treats animals with fractures.
  • Write prescriptions for sick animals.
  • Complete appropriate documentation and request referrals from other specialists as needed.
  • Serve as a hospital leader in setting a pleasant, engaging, and professional work environment.

What you need to excel at BluePearl:

  • DVM/VMD degree required.
  • Completion of a rotating internship or residency in emergency and critical care preferred but not required.
  • Current license to practice veterinary medicine in this state.
