Petco’s Vetco Total Care hospitals are seeking a highly skilled Veterinarian to lead clinical care, conduct surgeries, and manage comprehensive treatment plans for diverse patient cases.

The role emphasizes patient-first care, teamwork, and ongoing education within a supportive hospital setting. Candidates must hold a DVM, be licensed to practice in the state, and have DEA/CS and USDA credentials where applicable.

Qualifications

• DVM degree from AVMA-accredited school.
• Active licensure in the state where the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date.
• Current DEA license.
• Current CS license, if applicable, in the hospital's state or ability to obtain by start date.
• USDA Category I Accreditation or completion within two months of hire date.
• Comfort with anesthesia and routine surgeries (canine/feline spays, neuters, mass removals, dentals).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate and sympathetic; maintain professional attitude in stressful situations.
• Telephone and computer skills.
• Team player willing to learn new techniques and adapt.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent patient care by performing physical exams, diagnosing and treating diseases, and providing preventive care.
• Develop treatment plans and coordinate care with referral hospitals as needed.
• Perform spays/neuters and other routine surgeries.
• Perform dental procedures including exams, radiographs evaluation, extractions, and oral surgery.
• Participate in rounds and communicate with staff to improve patient care.
• Disseminate knowledge to staff to improve care and communication.
• Accept additional duties as assigned.
