Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to provide compassionate in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care for pets in their homes on Long Island and surrounding areas.

You will work independently in the field, supported by a collaborative medical leadership team, with a focus on dignity and comfort for pets and families, while maintaining thorough medical documentation and seamless coordination with other clinicians.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD, or BVMS) from an accredited school.
• Active veterinary license in the state of practice.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license.
• Willingness to work some weekends on a rotating schedule.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and 100 lbs with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care in a compassionate, Fear Free-aligned manner.
• Support families through the end-of-life process with empathy, patience, and professionalism.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.

Position Overview

As an Associate Veterinarian with Heartstrings Pet Hospice, you will provide compassionate, gentle in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care. You'll work independently in the field while being fully supported by a collaborative medical leadership team, dedicated Veterinary Care Specialists (VCS), and strong operational infrastructure. Veterinarian Core Responsibilities

• Provide in-home euthanasia and hospice care for geriatric and terminally ill pets
• Guide families in making end-of-life decisions for their pets
• Build relationships with local veterinary clinics, serving as an extension of their excellent care

Requirements
