Job summary

The Animal Hospital at Murdoch University (TAHMU) invites applications for a casual role in the Emergency and Critical Care section. The key purpose of this role is to provide emergency veterinary services and ongoing care for companion animals, including exotics, with afterhours support from specialist services to ensure optimal treatment.

You will diagnose, advise and train, working within a dynamic team and contributing to high standards of patient care.

Qualifications

  • Veterinary degree registrable with Veterinary Practice Board (Western Australia)
  • Postgraduate qualifications or training experience preferred
  • Ability to work rotational shift work, including nights, weekends and public holidays
  • Demonstrated ability to work cohesively in a team environment

Responsibilities

Job description

Emergency and Critical Care specialists provide a trainee and residency program along with training and guidance opportunities for the emergency team members. The hospital also receives afterhours support from various specialist services to ensure optimal care and treatment plans for all animals.

Your New Role!

The key purpose of this role is to provide emergency veterinary services and ongoing care for companion animals (including exotics) in the Emergency and Critical Care section of The Animal Hospital at Murdoch University (TAHMU).

Key responsibilities
  • Diagnose and make therapeutic treatment recommendations on small companion animals.
  • Provide support and training to specialty trainees, students, visiting veterinarians and veterinary nurses in all aspects of emergency medicine and critical care.
  • Provide advice to other TAHMU staff on emergency medicine and critical care related matters.

This casual role attracts a competitive base casual rate of $74.55p/hr - $85.33 p/hr PLUS shift penalties and 12% employer superannuation contributions.

Shift Penalties
  • Midweek 18:00 - 23:59 Hours - Attracts 115% penalty on base hourly rate - $79.60 p/h - $90.38 p/h
  • Midweek 24:00 - 08:00 Hours - Attracts 130% penalty on base hourly rate - $96.92 p/h - $110.93 p/h
  • Midweek O/night Shift - Attracts 150% penalty on base hourly rate - $111.83 p/h -128.00 p/h
  • Saturday Hours - attracts 150% penalty on base hourly rate - $111.83 p/h -$128.00 p/h
  • Sunday Hours - Attracts 175% penalty on base hourly rate - $130.46 p/h - $149.33 p/h
  • Public Holiday Hours - Attracts 250% penalty on base hourly rate - $186.38 p/h - $213.33 p/h
