Job summary

Snohomish County's Human Services Department is seeking a full-time Veterans Service Officer to assist veterans and their families with emergency vouchers, housing access, and VA benefits within the Behavioral Health and Veterans Services Division in Everett.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in a related field; plus two years of office experience with veterans’ or community services; ability to pass job-related tests.

Responsibilities

• Interview veterans and families to determine eligibility for emergency vouchers and services.
• Issue vouchers for emergency financial assistance and enter data.
• Assist clients in filing VA claims for entitlements.
• Provide outreach to veterans in outlying areas for access to services.
• Support veterans in developing plans toward self-sufficiency.
• Network with veterans' organizations and other agencies to expand available services.
• Maintain voucher tracking in the computer system and ensure timely vendor payments.
• Coordinate with program staff in surrounding counties when needed.
