The Virginia Department of Veterans Services is seeking a Veterans Service Representative to support veterans, dependents, and families at the Fredericksburg Benefits Office. The role focuses on ensuring earned benefits are accessed and understood, with guidance through the claims process.
As part of the team, you will educate veterans on VA benefits, advocate for their rights, and maintain compliance with USDVA accreditation requirements while serving the community across weekends or holidays

Job Duties: Serve Virginia’s veterans, their dependents and family members by ensuring they receive the benefits, support, quality care, and recognition they have earned through their service and sacrifice. To advocate for and assist veterans and their dependents in the preparation, presentation, and prosecution of all lawful and ethical veterans claims for benefits to which they are entitled. To educate veterans and dependents on the services and benefits offered by Virginia and the federal government.
Minimum Qualifications: REAL ID is required for employment as part of the federal prerequisites for USDVA Accreditation. Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to veterans’ benefits is preferred. Experience with the military and/or military veteran communities. Ability to interpret complex laws and regulations and apply them to casework. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Strong customer service and public speaking skills. Some overnight travel and regular community outreach, including some weekends or holidays, is required.
