Job summary

The Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) seeks an experienced Health Tech (Opticians) to support Optical Shops at the Iron Mountain, MI VA Medical Center.

Minimum of one year as an Optician is required. The role coordinates optical operations, serves as liaison between VCS, eye clinic providers and prosthetics teams, ensures accurate prescription interpretation, and maintains quality assurance in patient care. A current REAL ID is required to work with the Veterans Canteen Service.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience working as an Optician required.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining high patient service standards.
• Proficient in prescription interpretation and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate optical operations across the optical shops at Iron Mountain VA Medical Center.
• Serve as liaison between VCS, eye clinic providers and prosthetics teams.
• Identify prescription discrepancies and ensure accuracy for patient satisfaction.
• Perform optical verifications and quality checks on frames and lenses.
