Montana Legal Services Association is seeking a Veterans’ Legal Services Attorney to be based in our Helena office, with remote option considered. We offer a full-time, 35-hour work week and a pay range of $68,000 - $74,000 depending on experience.

The Position:

We’re looking for a Veterans’ Legal Services Attorney to be based in MLSA’s Helena office. We are also willing to consider a remote option. The pay range is $68,000 - $74,000, depending on experience.

• MLSA has a full-time, 35 hour work week.
• MLSA offers company-paid health, dental, vision and life insurance; an educational loan repayment assistance program; a 403(b) retirement plan; and eligibility for a health reimbursement or health savings account with MLSA contributing $1,600 each year.
• We also offer a generous paid leave package, including annual leave, sick leave, and a wellness leave program.
• And if you move from another town in Montana to join us, we offer up to $500 for relocation reimbursement (or $1,000 if you move from out of state).

Requirements:

• Law Degree
• A Willingness to assume a varied caseload.
• Ability to Effectively communicate with and motivate others.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people with varying perspectives, experience and expertise.
• Ability and willingness to learn and integrate new technologies and methodologies to efficiently perform responsibilities.

Specific Duties:

• Conduct training, hold regular office hours, and provide legal services to address patients’/clients’ needs from veterans’ service providers.
• Provide orientation and training activities for veterans’ service providers, including how to make appropriate referrals.
• Interview, advise, and represent eligible clients in civil matters.
• Develop and maintain specialized knowledge of the health-harming legal needs of patients.
• Consult with veterans ‘service provider personnel on the health harming legal needs of patients.

The Location:

Helena

Billings

The largest city in Montana, Billings has plenty to offer and maintains the feel of small-town Montana. Bursting with craft beer, Montana’s only walkable brewery trail is located close to our office, in the heart of downtown Billings. A self-guided tour is made up of six breweries, two distilleries and one cider house. Nestled in between sandstone cliffs and the Beartooth Mountains which gives Billings the “Montana’s Trailhead” name. There is a path for any personality: Arts & Culture Aficionado, History Buff, Outdoor Enthusiast, Foodie, Road tripper, Shopaholic, Wellness, and Family Adventures.
