Job summary

Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) seeks a on-site retail associate to assist customers, process sales, stock shelves, and keep the store clean and organized within the VA healthcare system.

Requirements include a valid REAL ID, strong customer service and basic math skills, ability to lift up to 40 pounds, and familiarity with POS systems. Prior service-industry experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Current valid REAL ID is required to work at Veterans Canteen Service.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Basic math skills for handling transactions.
• Requires constant standing, walking, and frequent bending.
• Must be able to lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted.
• One year of experience in the service industry is preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with retail software and point-of-sale systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assists customer in locating products and provides detailed information to enhance their shopping experience
• Handles sales transactions using a cash register, ensuring accuracy and customer satisfaction
• Restocks merchandise and ensures products are properly labeled for display
• Maintains a clean and organized store environment, ensuring a pleasant and efficient shopping experience
• Performs other duties as assigned.
