Job summary

The Tennessee State Veterans’ Homes Board invites applications for a Dietary Aide role to support meal preparation and service for residents. The position involves assisting cooks, taking dining room orders, serving meals promptly, and maintaining clean, sanitary dining areas and equipment.

Candidates should be able to work either shift, stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and follow state and federal sanitation standards. Prior healthcare food service experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to work either shift depending on department needs.
• Stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and perform kitchen tasks safely.
• Previous experience serving meals in healthcare or environmental services preferred.
• Reading/writing simple instructions and basic math with clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of food in quantities per menu and number of residents.
• Take resident orders in dining room and serve meals promptly.
• Clean dining areas, work areas, equipment and utensils per procedures.
• Responsible for care of food service equipment and coordination with staff.
