Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Military & Veterans Affairs, Military Affairs Division, is seeking a Business Services Coordinator II for the Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, NC.

The person will supervise a cemetery staff of state employees and work study students, oversee burial scheduling and eligibility for burial benefits, manage the operating budget, and handle public relations activities to support veterans and their families.

Qualifications

• Experiences supervising, manages, and performs a variety of administrative tasks.
• Experience to verify eligibility for burial, scheduling, and conducting burials, as well as receiving federally provided funding for the cemetery program.
• Experience managing and supervising the grounds staff in burial operations, grounds maintenance, facilities maintenance, and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage a cemetery staff of six or more State Employees and work study employees, inmate labor from the Department of Corrections as well as offenders assigned community service.
• Monitor and ensure operating budget is properly maintained and expenditures are justified.
• Counsel and assist veterans and/or their families in applying for burial benefits at a state veteran’s cemetery.
• Assist applicants in obtaining needed military documents from federal sources which will determine eligibility for veteran’s benefits.
• Manage and supervise the grounds staff in burial operations, grounds maintenance, facilities maintenance, and equipment maintenance.
• Perform public relations activities related to the state veteran's cemetery program.
