Job summary

The role certifies eligibility, applies waivers, and coordinates with VA, the UC system, Financial Aid, and campus offices to support students across their academic careers. It offers full-time status with UC benefits and limited remote work.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of VA, DoD and California regulations pertaining to veterans’ educational benefits.
• Ability to apply policies to diverse student situations and ensure compliance.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service.
• Experience with complex databases to reconcile records and report data.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the University’s primary VA School Certifying Official for veterans’ educational benefits.
• Maintains compliance with statutes, regulations, policies, and procedures for VA, DoD, Cal Vet, and UC benefits.
• Certifies eligibility for veterans’ educational benefits and Cal Vet waivers in a timely manner.
• Acts as liaison with VA, UC campuses, Financial Aid, and Residence Affairs to ensure accurate benefits processing.
• Advises and guides students, staff, and parents on veterans’ benefits and related processes.
