The incumbent operates in a public relations capacity within the parish and directly supervises staff under Regional Manager oversight.

Qualifications

• Six years of experience in veterans service work, public benefits claims examining, social services or HR.
• Six years full-time experience in any field plus three years in veterans service work.
• Bachelor's degree plus three years of veterans service work.
• Master's degree plus two years of veterans service work.
• Experience substitution: 30 semester hours per year credited as one year of experience; max 120 semester hours.

Responsibilities

• Assist subordinates in complex aspects of governing laws and regulations; study new laws and regulations.
• Conduct interviews and counsel veterans and dependents regarding entitlement; assist with forms and monitor claims processing.
• Maintain records, file correspondence, and prepare periodic office production reports.
• Attend training and continuing education to maintain accreditation.
