Job summary

The Veterans Health Administration, Fayetteville NC Coastal Health Care System, seeks a Peer Specialist to join the interdisciplinary team and support Veterans in recovery and wellness.

Responsibilities include coaching Veterans, modeling coping strategies, crisis intervention as needed, accompanying Veterans to appointments, and connecting them with VA and community supports. Telework may be authorized Ad Hoc; schedule typically Mon-Fri.

Qualifications

• Transcript must be submitted with your application.
• Education or degrees recognized by the U.S. Department of Education may be used to qualify for Federal employment.
• If using foreign education, submit a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript.

Responsibilities

• Assist Veterans in articulating recovery goals and personal wellness plans.
• Model coping techniques and self-help strategies based on personal recovery experience.
• Provide crisis intervention and report concerns to the treatment team promptly.
• Accompany Veterans to appointments and connect them with VA and community supports.
