Job summary

Brazoria County's Veteran Service Office is seeking an assistant under the Veteran Service Officer to perform VA claims work. You will interview, advise, and assist veterans and their dependents in understanding and obtaining federal, state, and local benefits, and refer clients to appropriate resources.

• Experience advising veterans and dependents on benefits.
• Familiarity with VA rules, regulations and programs.
• Accreditation as a VA claims representative is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide claim counseling and reviews to veterans and their dependents; interview, advise, and assist with VA claim paperwork.
• Submit documents to VA and other agencies; maintain records for statistics and reports.
• Advocate on behalf of veterans and coordinate with VA and community resources.
• Travel as needed to support outreach and client services.
