Job summary

CityVet Alamo Heights seeks a Veterinary Technician to join our VT team. You’ll work with veterinarians to prep patients for surgery, collect samples, and support client communications while delivering high-quality care.

The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and efficiency, requiring at least 1 year in the veterinary field and a high school diploma or GED. Compensation is based on experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year veterinary industry experience.
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology and medications.
• Ability to restrain animals safely and manage multiple tasks.
• Strong organizational and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians by prepping patients for surgery (anesthesia, x-rays) and restraining animals.
• Obtain samples (stool, blood, etc.) for testing and assist with lab work.
• Test samples and help interpret results for the veterinarian.
• Administer medications and vaccines as directed by the DVM.
• Communicate with clients about care plans and follow-up instructions.
• Support Client Service Specialist team as needed.
• Maintain a high standard of patient care and clinic efficiency.
