Job summary

University of Wisconsin–Madison WisCARES seeks a Veterinary Technician III to support the WisCARES clinic’s daily medical functions while helping grow teaching programs for preclinical and clinical students. The role combines hands-on animal care with instructional duties, requiring strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities include supervising student rotations, coordinating with UW-SVM teaching staff, and developing learning modules.

Qualifications

• License/Certification: CVT - Certified Veterinary Technician
• Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs. independently
• Physical and manual dexterity to perform specialized technical tasks
• 2+ years of relevant experience, to include veterinary technician experience
• Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft 365 applications, including Teams, basic spreadsheets, Powerpoint, and Outlook

Responsibilities

• Documentation, communication & operations tasks including maintaining records and billing
• Teaching, training & outreach supporting veterinary students and staff
• Clinical & technical care including nursing care, procedures, and anesthesia-related tasks
