Job summary

The Dairy Cattle Center at the University of Wisconsin–Madison is seeking an Animal Care Technician III to support research and teaching activities on campus. This role involves milking, feeding, cleaning, health observations, sampling, and data collection, with leadership duties during supervisor absence and guidance to student workers.

The incumbent will work closely with faculty and staff to ensure smooth animal care operations and adherence to established procedures in a busy research

Qualifications

• Milking procedures and milk quality standards knowledge.
• Experience recognizing changes in dairy cattle health and behavior.
• Experience following detailed written protocols in a research or agricultural setting.
• Experience leading others and working with a variety of stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Prepares food and formulas and feeds animals according to schedules and specifications.
• Tracks inventory levels of animal supplies and places replenishment orders.
• Cleans and maintains organization of animal holding spaces.
