Job summary

United Veterinary Care is hosting veterinary externships for students from AVMA-accredited schools, typically in clinical years 3rd or 4th. Participants will join a team in a network of over 100 hospital locations across 20+ states, engaging in case discussions, hands-on patient care, and collaborative problem-solving in GP, ER, and specialty settings.

Qualifications

• Must be a current veterinary student at an AVMA-accredited school.
• Priority scheduling is given to students in their clinical years on official externship blocks for school credit.
• Must provide proof of professional liability insurance.
• SAVMA members qualify for no cost insurance by applying at the SAVMA Member Benefit and Resources | AVMA PLIT link.

Responsibilities

• Participate in case discussions and hands-on patient care under supervision.
• Observe and assist in GP, ER and specialty cases.
• Collaborate with supervising veterinarians and staff to confirm exam findings and plan treatments.
