Externship stipend

Job summary

Longwood Veterinary Clinic, part of United Veterinary Care, offers externships for veterinary students at AVMA-accredited schools. Rotations span GP, ER and specialty settings, with students in 3rd or 4th year participating in case discussions and hands-on patient care under supervision.

Stipends are available to offset travel and lodging costs, and priority is given to clinical-year blocks for school credit. Liability insurance proof is required.

Qualifications

• Must be a current veterinary student at an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
• Priority scheduling is given to students in their clinical years on externship blocks for school credit.
• Must provide proof of professional liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Participate in case discussions, collaborative problem-solving, and hands-on patient care in GP, ER and specialty settings under supervision.
• Be integrated into the team and contribute to patient care decisions and learning.
• Learn through supervised exams, surgeries, emergencies, and routine medical appointments.
