Job summary

United Veterinary Care is hosting externships for veterinary students across our network of hospitals. Externships are designed for clinical-year students at AVMA-accredited schools, typically in their 3rd or 4th year, with supervision by experienced veterinarians.

Stipends are available to offset travel and lodging costs. Opportunities span GP, ER, and specialty settings with mentorship and hands-on patient care.

Qualifications

• Must be a current veterinary student at an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
• Priority scheduling for clinical-year externships for school credit.
• Must provide proof of professional liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Participate in case discussions and collaborative problem-solving with the team.
• Engage in hands-on patient care in GP, ER, and specialty settings under supervision.
• Be involved in surgical cases, dental procedures, emergencies, and routine medical appointments.
• Understand and discuss exam findings with supervising veterinarians before moving forward as a team.
