Job summary

Firehouse Animal Health Center Leander hosts veterinary students for externships, offering hands-on experience in GP, ER, and specialty settings under supervision. Qualifications

• Must be a current veterinary student at an AVMA-accredited veterinary school
• Priority scheduling is given to students in their clinical years on official externship blocks for school credit

Responsibilities

• Externship participants will actively participate in cases and be supervised by an experienced veterinarian and skilled support staff
• Expect to be included in surgical cases, dental procedures, emergencies, sick patient workups, and routine medical appointments
• Discuss cases with supervising veterinarian and have exam findings confirmed to verify plans before moving forward as a team
