Job summary

Countryside Animal Hospital of Hot Springs in Arkansas offers veterinary externships in collaboration with NVA hospitals. Students gain hands-on experience under supervision, learning patient histories, exams, treatment planning, diagnostics, dentistry, and surgical observation.

Externs work alongside associate veterinarians, participate in clinical rounds, and develop communication skills with the medical team and clients.

Qualifications

• All Veterinary students (regardless of class year) are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
• Externs gain experience in gathering histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, and observing/surgical procedures.
• Medical management of patients and communication with the team and clients are emphasized.

Responsibilities

• Gather patient histories and perform physical exams.
• Create treatment plans and assist/observe diagnostics and dentistry.
• Observe or assist surgical procedures and participate in medical management.
