Job summary

Cape May Veterinary Hospital is offering a veterinary externship experience designed to provide hands-on exposure to clinical practice. Students will work with supervising Associate Veterinarians to learn patient histories, exams, treatment planning, diagnostics, dentistry, and surgeries, while developing communication with the team and clients.

The program typically lasts two to eight weeks, with stipends available to travel and living expenses for eligible veterinary students.

• Externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the opportunity to understand day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities

• Gaining experience in gathering patient histories and performing physical exams.
• Creating treatment plans and performing diagnostics.
• Providing dentistry services and observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures.
• Medical management of patients and practicing communication with the medical team, staff, and clients.
