Job summary

Overseas-Shipholding-Group is seeking a senior Fleet Operations professional to assist managers and superintendents in enforcing safety, quality and environmental policies aboard all company vessels. You will help lead shipboard crews to ensure safe, efficient operations and optimal asset protection.

Responsibilities include supervising vessel operations, evaluating crew skills, supporting incident investigations, and coordinating responses to vetting inspections.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in maritime field or Maritime Academy graduate preferred; five years equivalent experience acceptable.
• Advanced United States Coast Guard license Chief Mate preferred; seagoing experience required.
• Knowledge of ABS/NS5 or similar software is helpful.
• Strong computer skills and MS Office; Lotus Notes experience preferred.
• Knowledge of USCG and international vessel regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist Fleet Manager and Superintendents to ensure company safety, quality and environmental policies onboard all vessels.
• Supervise vessel operations to optimize availability while protecting asset value.
• Evaluate skills of shipboard personnel and make promotional recommendations.
• Participate in incident response, investigations and corrective actions.
• Support vessel vetting inspections and prepare corrective actions as required.
• Review Management System procedures and suggest improvements based on observations and audits.
• Assist in chartering inquiries to ensure contract accuracy and customer satisfaction.
