Job summary

Ingram Marine Group seeks a supervisor to oversee vessel facility crews, ensuring safety and timely completion of repairs on towing vessels.

You will train and lead associates, collaborate with the Facility manager and Engineering team, and ensure adherence to safety systems and regulations. Candidates should have 5+ years of towing vessel repair experience and OSHA/First Aid qualifications.

Qualifications

Job Description

The purpose of this position is to supervise vessel facility crew(s) to ensure all jobs are done safely and in a timely manner. Brings extensive vessel repair knowledge to assist, train & lead other associates. Works directly with Facility manager and Engineering team.

Qualifications

• Promote, practice, and enforce Ingram’s safety systems, company policies and procedures, and the company’s code of ethics


• Delegates responsibilities, duties, and tasks regarding vessel repairs to crew.


• Ensure efficient production is obtained safely while putting out high quality work


• Maintain dry dock and repair areas


• Participate in daily work as a "working supervisor," contributing hands-on alongside the crew rather than solely directing and observing


• Verify and update crew time records in the UKG timekeeping system to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Good written and oral communication skills

• Possess knowledge of how to perform work to underwater equipment on towing vessels.


• Possess knowledge of how to perform work in engine room, rudder room and other above deck hull work.


• Has working knowledge of NVAC 7-68; External and internal hull repairs.


• Experience keeping boats up to Sub-chapter M criteria.


• Ability to operate a dry dock.


• Ability to arrange dry dock blocks in such a way to accommodate various vessels.


• Ability to collaborate and work with multiple departments.


• Ability to read boat blueprints and docking plans.


• Basic computer skills with familiarity in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)


• Knowledge of tank barge cleaning, gas-freeing, and hot work/cold work permitting procedures


• Ability to plan and coordinate crew schedules and manpower to meet vessel turnaround deadlines


• Experience supporting USCG and ABS inspections or audits


• Knowledge of rigging, crane signaling, and forklift operation

Additional Information

Degree Required:

High School Diploma or GED

Years of Experience Required:

5+ years of repair experience on towing vessels

Certification Required:

Competent Person Certified; Ability to pass welding certification test

OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour (General Industry); First Aid/CPR (Preferred)

Working Environment / Conditions

• Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions


• Must be able to work overtime, when needed


• Must be able to climb ladders, work at heights, and work in confined spaces and around water
