Qualifikationen

• High school diploma or GED is a plus.
• Experience in ship cutting, shipbreaking, dismantling, demolition, scrap metal recycling, or a comparable industrial operation; supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of torch cutting, safe dismantling sequences, material handling, and coordination with crane and equipment crews is a plus.
• Working knowledge of OSHA shipyard safety requirements, confined and enclosed space hazards, hot work controls, and required PPE.
• OSHA 10-Hour certification required.
• Ability to lead a crew, provide clear instructions, coach employees, resolve work issues, and maintain accurate records.
• English and Spanish communication skills preferred to support crew training and communication.

Aufgaben

• Plan daily work assignments for ship cutters and crew based on dismantling plan and equipment.
• Schedule crew daily, weekly, and monthly to align with the dismantling plan.
• Coordinate cutting sequences and removal of vessel sections with other teams to maintain stability.
• Monitor production, quality, staffing, and delays; report progress and suggest improvements safely.
• Identify waste and optimize use of consumables like gases, torch tips, and grinding materials.
• Lead pre-shift meetings explaining tasks, hazards, and safety procedures.
• Train and coach employees in cutting methods, tool care, and safe work practices; document training.
• Monitor attendance and conduct; support corrective action per company procedures.
• Coordinate with maintenance to address defective torches and equipment; remove unsafe tools.
• Ensure proper use and inspection of torches, tools, and equipment; report damage promptly.
• Maintain production, attendance, training, inspection, and incident records; report injuries or near misses.
