Job summary

Kirby Corporation seeks a dispatch coordinator to facilitate information flow between vessels and shoreside staff. You will coordinate movements across Bolivar, Texas City, Freeport, Beaumont and Port Arthur, using VHF and Oasis to log trip data and orders.

The role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating schedule. Prior dispatch or towing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year dispatch or towing experience; college degree may substitute.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Houston dispatch, Sales, Customers, and vessel & barge movements in Bolivar, Texas City, Freeport, Beaumont, and Port Arthur.
• Communicate with vessels via VHF radio and Oasis program; enter Trip information and orders in Oasis to meet trip requirements.
• Contact Vessel or Barge M&R to coordinate repairs.
• Set up Shore Tankerman and coordinate with Logistics Management as needed.
• Coordinate and assist in fleeting operations.
• Maintain communications with Kirby Traffic on trip details and horsepower assignments.
• Coordinate all barge movements in Kirby fleet; keep daily logs and assign daily fleet inspections.
• Knowledge of Facility Security Plan and control all personnel entering/leaving the gated facility.
• Participate in required security drills and exercises.
