Job summary

Cope Plastics Inc in Alton, Illinois is seeking a Machinist - Vertical Mill Operator on the 3rd shift (11pm–7am). You will load programs, set up tools, adjust equipment and verify work with precision measurements to maintain tight tolerances.

The role requires high school diploma or GED and experience with CNC mills; diversified machining background preferred. We offer starting pay at $21.97/hour plus $3/hour shift differential, plus competitive benefits and a safe, family-like work environment.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school education or GED.
• Diversified manufacturing experience preferred, including working knowledge of machining techniques and NC machines.

Responsibilities

• Keys in or downloads provided programs into manual, semi-automatic, and automatic mills, lathes and other related machines.
• Operates control console to orient spindle and check work position at specified reference points.
• Adjusts machine and fixture stops to maintain tolerance requirements.
• Interprets part drawings and uses measuring instruments to check machine positioning and inspect parts.
• Recognizes and reports machine malfunctions or tooling difficulties; deburrs, inspects, and prepares parts for transport.
