Job summary

Cope Plastics Inc. in Alton, IL is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist Lathe for our fabrication department. This full-time, third-shift role offers $21.97–$25.00 per hour plus a $3 shift differential. You will set up and operate lathes, download programs, and ensure parts meet tolerance requirements.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and at least three years of CNC machining experience. Saw experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Keys in or downloads provided programs into mills, lathes using prescribed tooling and procedures.
• Works from detailed instructions to mount tools and position work piece.

• Adjusts machine and fixture stops to maintain tolerances.
• Interprets part drawings and uses measuring instruments to check positioning.
• Identifies and reports machine malfunctions or tooling issues.
• Deburrs, inspects, and prepares parts for transport to packaging.

Job Shift: Third Shift

We have a full-time opportunity for a detail-oriented CNC Machinist Lathe within our fabrication department. The ideal candidate is professional, courteous and dedicated to providing excellent service through quality work. Individuals with shop, fabrication/manufacturing, and saw experience are ideal. Saw experience is ideal but not required.

3rd shift position (11pm-7am). $3 shift differential!! Hourly rate starting at $21.97/hour (higher based on experience) + shift differential.

Essential Functions

• Keys in or downloads provided programs into manual, semi-automatic, and automatic mills, lathes and other related machines employing recognized tooling and procedures with tolerances that are close but not difficult to maintain.
• Works from detailed instructions, standard coding and operational data to change or mount tools and to position work piece.
• Operates control console to orient spindle and check work position at specified reference points.
• Adjusts machine and fixture stops to maintain tolerance requirements.
• Interprets part drawings when applicable, uses required measuring instruments to check machine positioning and inspects work.
• Recognizes and reports machine malfunctions, tooling difficulties, etc.
• De-burrs parts, performs final inspection, completes paperwork and prepares parts for transport to packaging.
