Job summary

Boutique Recruiting seeks a Vertical Construction Project Estimator to lead estimating and preconstruction for large-scale federal vertical and design-build projects. You will identify bidding opportunities, develop comprehensive cost estimates, perform quantity takeoffs, and collaborate with Project Managers to ensure estimates reflect scope, logistics, schedules, and budget.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in vertical construction estimating, federal contracting experience, and proficiency

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of vertical construction estimating and bidding experience with significant federal and design-build project exposure.
  • Experience with federal vertical construction projects, ideally in the $5M-$30M range.
  • Experience working with USACE, NAVFAC, and/or U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects and government bid processes.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
  • Strong knowledge of construction estimating methods, quantity takeoffs, labor and material analysis, cost modeling, and project budgeting.
  • Ability to interpret RFPs, construction drawings, technical specifications, schedules, contracts, and federal construction requirements.
  • Experience evaluating subcontractor and vendor proposals, procurement requirements, and project risks.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, and professional communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and track potential bidding opportunities in partnership with Business Development and Project Management.
  • Review RFP packages, drawings, specifications, and contract documents to fully understand project scope and requirements.
  • Prepare comprehensive project estimates covering quantity takeoffs, labor, materials, equipment, transportation, temporary living requirements, and other project costs.
  • Analyze self-perform versus subcontracted scopes and solicit, evaluate, and incorporate subcontractor and vendor quotes.
  • Lead estimating efforts for vertical, federal, and design-build projects while accounting for specifications, logistics, schedules, and project constraints.
  • Conduct site visits, develop prequalification packages and scope letters, and lead turnover meetings for successful bids.
  • Partner with Project Managers on project budgets, change orders, additional work, and cost alignment throughout the construction lifecycle.
  • Maintain estimating software, historical cost records, and benchmarking data while reviewing estimates for completeness and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, vendors, Risk Management, and internal stakeholders throughout preconstruction.
  • Support company health and safety practices and incorporate identified risks into estimating and project planning.

Position Title: Vertical Construction Project Estimator

Build the estimates behind complex federal construction projects that make a lasting impact. We are seeking an experienced Vertical Construction Project Estimator to lead estimating and preconstruction efforts for large-scale vertical, federal, and design-build projects. This role will identify bidding opportunities, develop comprehensive cost estimates, perform quantity takeoffs, evaluate subcontractor pricing, and partner closely with Project Managers to ensure estimates reflect project scope, logistics, schedules, and budget requirements.

The ideal candidate brings deep vertical construction estimating experience, a strong understanding of federal contracting requirements, and the technical judgment to accurately price complex projects from initial RFP through project turnover.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $170,000 / Year DOE

Requirements
