Job summary

OpenAI seeks a communications contractor to support vertical communications across health, education, and personal finance. You will translate complex AI progress into clear, audience-specific narratives that remain credible and aligned with OpenAI’s mission.

You’ll move quickly from strategy to execution, draft messaging and briefs, coordinate with product, policy, legal, marketing, research, and communications teams, and monitor external sentiment to keep campaigns on track.

Qualifications

• Strong writer and editor who can make complex topics clear and human.
• Sound judgment around sensitive topics, balancing risk and nuance.
• Highly organized with ability to manage multiple launches and stakeholders.
• Independent and proactive, able to bring structure to ambiguous work.

Responsibilities

• Support launch execution for priority vertical moments, from messaging to media strategy and post-launch follow-through.
• Own ongoing proactive campaigns across verticals, building calendars and moving ideas to execution.
• Translate technical product work into audience-specific narratives for health, education, and personal finance.
• Draft and refine communications materials including messaging, pitches, and briefing docs.
• Monitor external sentiment and emerging risks to manage brand considerations and keep campaigns moving.
• Build cross-functional relationships to create clarity across fast-moving workstreams.
