Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree and endorsement in the grade/subject taught with a valid Tennessee certificate.
• Must be highly qualified.
• Goverened by the Tennessee Code Annotated and the collective bargaining agreement.
• Degree Equivalency Formula: Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience; Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Creates an educational environment conducive to learning and prepares instructional materials.
• Establishes classroom behavior standards and manages conduct inside and outside the school.
• Assesses student progress on schedule and provides reports to parents and staff.
• Plans curriculum and lessons to meet individual student needs per state and school guidelines.
• Confers with parents and staff to develop educational programs.
