Qualifications

• Bachelor degree required.
• Nebraska Teaching Certificate endorsements required or as assigned.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students.
• Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and health.
• Communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects to students.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet varying needs and interests.
• Instruct in subjects such as English, mathematics, or social studies.
• Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate progress.
• Plan activities for a balanced program of instruction and observation.
• Maintain complete student records as required by laws and ESU policies.
• Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
• Assign lessons and correct homework.
• Enforce policies and rules governing students.
• Confer with parents/guardians, teachers, counselors, and admins to resolve problems.
• Prepare students for later grades by encouraging exploration and perseverance.
• Meet with parents to discuss progress and priorities.
• Guide students with adjustment or academic interests.
• Meet with other professionals to discuss individual needs and progress.
• Prepare remedial programs for students requiring extra help.
• Prepare for assigned classes and show evidence of preparation.
• Instruct and monitor use of equipment to prevent injuries.
• Prepare reports on students and activities as required by administration.
• Confer with staff to plan lessons following approved curricula.
• Perform administrative duties such as library, hall and cafeteria monitoring, and bus loading/unloading.
• Administer tests and interpret results to determine strengths and needs.
• Organize games and recreational activities to promote development.
• Plan and supervise class projects and field trips.
