The US Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking Nursing Assistants who will integrate into the nursing care team and support licensed staff in providing comprehensive care across preventive, acute, sub-acute, chronic and hospice settings. Candidates must meet basic citizenship and English proficiency requirements and may be referred before all licensure/certification is completed.

Applicants may be considered at GS-3 to GS-5 levels based on experience and education; the role emphasizes

Qualifications

• United States citizenship required unless VA policy allows non-citizens to be appointed
• Proficiency in spoken and written English as per VA guidelines
• Six months of general experience or one year of education above high school with related courses, or completion of a short NA training program
• Ability to provide range of patient/resident care and contribute to nurse care plan and recovery
• Ability to observe patients’ physical or emotional status and refer issues to supervisor
• Ability to use basic diagnostic/treatment equipment and communicate with patients and health team

Responsabilités

• Assist licensed nursing staff in patient care for preventive, acute, sub-acute, chronic, maintenance and hospice settings
• Support nursing team in care planning and execution of nursing procedures
• Observe and report patient status changes to supervising staff in a timely manner
• Operate and assist with equipment such as bladder scan, glucose monitoring, and related devices
• Communicate effectively with patients, families and health professionals
