Job summary

The City of Houston is seeking a Semi-Skilled Laborer for the Vegetation Management section of the Transportation and Drainage Operations. Reporting location: 8002 Airline. Workdays are Monday through Thursday, 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, with possible changes.

The role involves general maintenance, minor fabrication, tool operation, painting, roofing, carpentry, and possibly driving to job sites. Applicants should be able to lift up to 80 pounds and work in hot/cold conditions; a Texas Class C license

Qualifications

• Able to read, write, and follow basic instructions.
• Six months of working experience required.
• Must have a valid Texas Class C driver's license.
• Preference given to eligible veterans when qualified.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic maintenance and repair tasks to support upkeep of structures, facilities, and equipment.
• Operate hand and power tools; assist with painting, roofing, carpentry, and related duties.
• Possibly drive vehicles to and from job sites; lift heavy objects up to 80 pounds as needed.
