Job summary

Plug and Play in Sunnyvale, CA is hiring a Research Analyst/Associate to build investment theses, track enterprise & AI tech trends, and support venture strategy for 550+ corporate partners.

You will identify promising startups, profile technologies, perform market sizing, and contribute to diligence with product analyses and references. Strong research/writing and 2–3 years in VC or related fields are preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree (or self-taught expertise) in computer science, data science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in VC, consulting, banking, product, research, or a technical role.
• Strong research and writing skills; comfortable engaging with executives to extract insights.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, independent thinker, fast learner.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine investment roadmaps in Enterprise & AI; track industry trends, regulatory shifts, and competitive landscapes
• Identify and profile the most promising startups and technologies in target markets
• Monitor performance of notable startups and track venture investment activity, acquisitions, and partnership trends
• Maintain internal knowledge bases and market maps to guide sourcing and decision-making
• Gather intelligence from the enterprise ecosystem through interviews and surveys; translate into investment-thesis-informing reports
• Contribute to company diligence: product analysis, technical reviews, market sizing, customer references
• Manage dealflow sessions, presenting relevant startups to corporate partners

Role Overview

Plug and Play, one of the most active early-stage venture investors globally, having backed over 2,000 startups since 1998 (including PayPal, Dropbox, Soundhound, and Lending Club) across 65 locations and 23 verticals, is expanding its Enterprise & AI Ventures team. The firm is hiring a Research Analyst/Associate to build investment theses, track emerging technologies, and produce research that guides venture strategy and helps Plug and Play's 550+ corporate partners stay ahead of disruption.
