Job summary

Floresville Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking a Pulmonary Care Nurse (RN or LVN) in Floresville, TX to care for ventilator-dependent and tracheostomy patients with COPD, pneumonia and other pulmonary conditions. You will develop and evaluate care plans, monitor progress, and coordinate with the respiratory team to optimize patient outcomes.

Required are an active Texas RN or LVN license, graduation from an accredited nursing program, and current BLS/CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN or LVN license (or multi-state compact)
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• Pulmonary care experience required

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage ventilator-dependent and tracheostomy patients, including trach care, suctioning and airway monitoring
• Plan, carry out and evaluate care plans for residents with COPD, pneumonia, respiratory failure and other pulmonary conditions
• Do patient assessments and track progress toward respiratory and rehab goals
• Provide treatments such as oxygen therapy, nebulizers, manual chest physiotherapy (CPT) and breathing exercises
• Administer and manage medications safely and accurately
• Perform diagnostic testing such as pulse oximetry, peak flow and specimen collection
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists and the interdisciplinary team
• Educate patients and families about medications, breathing treatments, preventing illness and lifestyle changes
